One of the joys of living in South Florida is the daily encounters with interesting brain exercises. This sign was in the cafeteria of my sons school.

I have been silently begging for help for a while now. Somebody please look at me! Give me attention. I am lonely.

Do a search for sexism in advertising and you’ll find tons of references to these vintage ads. Sorry…I guess I was expecting nudity.

A friend sent me this hilarious video of a guy donating blood. I have translated what he says…I don’t know if the translation will be funny at all but here it goes:
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7EctKuCFS8]
Reporter: Is this your first time donating blood?
Blood-giver: Correct.
Reporter: Why are you doing this?
Blood-giver: The company told us to come…you know..so (awkward grin)
Reporter: (inaudible)
Blood-giver:It’s that there’s a wife…no, mother-in-law of a colleague of ours who worked with us in the hospital and needs blood…and so they asked us to do this charity so we’re taking advantage of the holiday..you know…no lines..and that’s it…
Reporter: Was it worthwhile?
Blood-giver:Yeah, for sure…and I recommend it…if you haven’t given blood, come down and donate…it doesn’t hurt at all…
(at this point the nurse sticks the needle)
Just a second (grimaces in pain) … fucking big needle…
I’ve become a big fan of non-alcoholic beers. You can drink five or six bottles and keep working. (more…)
Buckler is brewed by Heineken. It is a nice beer with a nice light color and a bit of the light bitterness that you might find in an actual Heineken. (more…)

The next beer I tried is the Premium O’doul’s Amber. I loved this one. It is made by Anheuser-Busch and is very rich sweet flavor. (more…)

I just read this letter on Yahoo! I’m speechless.
The Doctor Is In — and Hot!
Thu Oct 11, 2:00 AM ETDEAR MARGO: I work in a male-dominated field and am therefore around lots of men every day. Not until I went to see this physician did I fee what I guess people call chemistry. My husband is an absolutely wonderful man and father. He is supportive, funny, successful and loving. However, I am wildly attracted to this other man.
I made up two reasons to have sham appointments. For the last one I dressed as sexy as I could on a workday, and flirted as best I could without seeming too forward. He was friendly but did not initiate anything.
Then, I saw the physician in the grocery store, and he made it a point to smile at me but not speak. My husband and child were with me.
At any rate, I have a follow-up appointment in about one month. Should I be forward with him? (And if so, how?) I do not want to lose my husband, but I am interested in this other man.

I was blown away by some video footage I found today of the internal combustion engine. If you ever wondered what it looks like in there during combustion, take a peak at this video.

I was talking to a colleague at work about the Caribbean and he mentioned the country of Curaçao. I claimed the origin of the name probably was from the Portuguese word Coração which means heart.
Here is what Wikipedia says:
The origin of the name Curaçao is still under debate. One explanation is that it is derived from the Portuguese word for ‘heart’ (coração), referring to the island as a centre in trade. Spanish traders took the name over as Curaçao, which was followed by the Dutch. Another explanation is that Curaçao was the name the indigenous peoples of Curaçao had used to label themselves (Joubert and Baart, 1994). This theory is supported by early Spanish accounts, which refer to the indigenous peoples as “Indios Curaçaos”. The Papiamento word for Curaçao is Kòrsou. The name “Curaçao” has become associated with a particular shade of blue, and is sometimes used as an adjective, because of the deep-blue liqueur named “Blue Curaçao”.
Judge for yourself.
